The Pond and Spring in Ohio

barbcarsmThis is Barb… She is getting us deliciously lost on the first beautiful, sunny, warm day in and around North Canton.  Notice her hair.  The wind felt SO good!  We were going to talk about my business, but it was not the kind of day that business lives in, it was a free wheeling type of day…

She is lounging on top of a waterfall that shot me back to Colorado Sweet Memories from the first moment I heard to water dancing among the rocks!  AH… There she is, just a bunch of grapes and an attendant hoard of young men short of a goddess! We were at the Hoffman Garden Center looking at inspirational plants and fish for my pond-a-la-evolution.

Roof Fishers

These guys were sitting on a roof, trolling for hood ornaments on passing cars, in one of the cabins at Willow Dale Lake where we drove around after the Hoffman adventure.  This pix doesn’t do justice to the impressive ugliness of their faces.

The Ever Evolving "Li Pond"

The Ever Evolving "Li Pond"

Here is the reason we went on our adventure… I was hoping to get some plants and inspiration in my quest for the perfect-bird-attracting-bubbling-and-ultimately relaxing pool.  Indeed, Hoffman’s was a font of inspiration… Today I put some Pansy’s along the side and am thinking that I will get a big tub, sink it into the left side and put some waterlilies in it.  My Cousin Amy does these amazing leaf castings Go here for link.  I would love to try one, but where to get a big leaf in Ohio… Hummmm

Just a coupla panseys here and there add so much to the pallett!

Just a coupla Pansy's here and there add so much to the pallet!

Here is what we did with the rest of the Pansy’s.  Nanook of the North (my mother) helped, finally getting her paws into the dirt after missing out last summer due to the lack of dirt (thank god!) in the nursing home.  I think it was perfect therapy.

I hope you are all enjoying the beginning of summer, it was almost too late for me, those last coupla days of freezing, cloudy-grey Ohio almost put my mind somewhere I would never find it…

The Crocheted Toilet Seat Cover

The result of hours of watching Rehab and tending to Nursing Duties...

The result of hours of watching Rehab and tending to Nursing Duties...

Amazingly enough, it has taken me 4 months to post this masterpiece! Ahhh Hahhh.

While my mother was in the nursing home, I was the morning-girl, a miracle in itself considering my absolute lack of morning cheerfulness.  I spent most mornings for several months watching my mother slowly improve and crocheting circles.  I had a lot of them… When people asked what I was going to do with them, I always joked, “I am going to make an el-deluxe-o toilet seat cover.  You have never seen the likes of the vehemently rabid looks hearty octogenarian knitters bestowed on my uppity crocheting self! Its a wonder I survive to write this…

Changing the pouch…

* Disclaimer: This is meant to be funny, it is meant to make you smile, we know it it really hard to have a pouch, but it is important to laugh, so if your loved one comes into the bathroom to help you out adorned as we suggest below, grin and thank them for being there cause you know for sure that… they love you!

Nose

This is your nose… before you met up with the Ileostomy.  A nice place to be most of the time… Flowers, coffee, the newly cut grass, so sweet, so delicious… And then you or your loved one has an Ileostomy and you have to learn to… empty the pouch.  How can you do this?  I have found the best way follows.

This is your savior! You have it, you need it for the pouch, its probably right handy… Paper Tape!

With the tape in your hand, carefully but firmly SQUASH it onto one side of your nose.

Pull to the other side of your nose and secure with vigor.

With both fingers squash the tape frimly onto your face.

Open your mouth… you will have to use it to breathe for the duration.

Here is you nose perfectly prepared to help with your or your loved ones pouch!
