That’s what I thought… “I will just move out there and help them out” And then my mother broke her hip.. no… both hips… at once! So the iloscopy bag (which had been the elephant in the middle of the salad plate so far…) was suddenly poked down several layers of importance as the hospital, oxygen, and my dad injuring himself, then the nursing home all stepped in to muck up that nice little… “Just”. Argh! How will I do this? OMG! I was JUST going to help out! You know what I mean if you have experienced the shock of seeing your parents in this challenging time/place/state of being.
I hope this blog will be fun and helpful to others experiencing the “adult-child-care-giver-to-ageing-and-ailing-parents” phenomenon, and a good release and amusement to me.

As an ostomate I believe sense of humor is a must, both for the ostomate and those around them/caring for them. My nurse and I joke around every time she comes. Sometimes she remembers my comments later when something reminds her and she starts laughing, her son asks why and she says oh you don’t want to know.
